Eastside Safety Provides Public Access Training to Second Community

The Marean Lake Cabin Owner's Association recently purchased an Automated Defibrillator for emergency responses.  On September 6, Instructors from Eastside Safety donated their time to train 11 responders in the use of the AED.  Eastside Safety had previously donated their time to train 25 students in the Town of Porcupine Plain for the same program.  A commitment to train as many people who live in either community as desire to learn and possibly respond has been made by the company.

The actions of the Marean Lake Cabin Owner's Association should be applauded for taking this step in making their community a Heartsafe Community by raising the money and buying the machine.  The volunteers who took this class should be recognized for their commitment to the public service in their area as well.

New Rig Fall Protection & Rescue Training Tower

Eastside Safety Ltd has just completed building a rig tower specifically designed to provide training for Enform's Fall Arrest & Rig Rescue programs.  This tower allows the students to simulate rig fall protection situations and rescue scenarios from a safe height.  The fully engineered, engineer certified and safety approved tower is portable, and can be set up anywhere to bring the class to the company that needs the training!

The tower arrives

Outriggers are attached to add to stability, and the tower is hydraulically lifted into position.

The operation takes about 10 minutes to set the tower up and ready to use.

Once set up, various pieces of equipment can be attached for the students to use.  This also includes a fully certified escape buggy and line.

There is no other tower like it in Western Canada!

The oil industry is now requiring an Enform Course for their employees who require fall protection & rig rescue.  This is a standard course developed by Enform to meet the needs of their members and the industry after finding a such a diversity of courses available.  The courses previously taught to the oil industry ranged from poor content to excellent but were inconsistent, depending upon the provider.  Enform has set the standard and course content to eliminate this problem.  This training rig was developed and manufacturered to exceed the standards established by Enform.

To book an Enform Fall Protection Course or Enform Rig Rescue Course, contact us at (306)323-4336 or any of our partners listed on the left side of page.

Eastside Safety is pleased to announce that new Powered Mobile Equipment Operator's Course is not only being offered through our own facilities, but
Haztech Fire and Safety, Trinity Safety & Training, Safety Source, Cumberland College, Parkland College and now The Saskatchewan Trucking Association (STA).  The STA already offers Heavy Equipment Training with expert instructors, and will be offering the new Powered Mobile Equipment Operator Training for the larger equipment.

This course meets the requirements and amendments of the Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Legislation (Regulations).  This course also provides information to the employer on how to establish or improve
their current programs.

Powered Mobile Equipment Operator's Course

This is a new course specifically designed to meet the requirements of the amendments to the Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.  While designing the course, we ensured that the material also met the  legislative requirements of Manitoba, Alberta and the Canada Labour Code.  Powered mobile equipment now covers any piece of motor powered equipment on a work-site that carries the weight of the operator.  For example: zoom-boom, reach trucks, forklifts, riding lawnmowers, riding snowblowers, yard tractors, skid-steer, gators etc.

This course will cover general material regarding pre-use inspections, maintenance, operating techniques, safe operating practices, safe loading, safe carrying and safe unloading.  Additionally, the legislative requirements (OHS Laws), policy development, checklist development, training record requirements and the requirement for powered mobile equipment job safety analysis will be covered.  The participants in this course will be provided with enough information for their employer to understand the changes, and complete the worksite and equipment specific training as stipulated in the legislation.  Specific modules on zoom-booms, scissor-lifts, skid-steer and forklifts will be covered as well as appropriate.

This course will satisfy 8 hours of the 16 hours of training minimally specified in the amendments.

Don't be fooled by Safety Training Companies who still offer the old courses.  Your business must comply with legislation by October 2008.
